Sparta, the capital of Laconia Prefecture, is a small town in southern Peloponnese. Although Sparta was established in the early 19th century, the area is mostly famous for its history, as this was the site of ancient Sparta, the town with the strict rules and the brave warriors.
Today, modern Sparta is a lovely town close to other beautiful destinations in Peloponnese.
The centre of Sparta is well-divided in three-line boulevards and has nice parks. It offers all the amenities of a bigger city, including shops, hotels, restaurants and many entertainment options. Moreover, it has many nearby sights to see, as Mystras famous Byzantine town.
